No. Although New Wash is a mostly plant-based formula, it is not vegan because of a single ingredient: Keratin, a protein derived from sheep's wool.
It is very important to us to acquiring our ingredients from ethical and cruelty free sources. The sheep need to be sheared for their own well being, and that wool is where the keratin gets extracted from. The sheep do not get killed to obtain the keratin.
We are aware of the practice of mulesing, and agree that it would not align with a cruelty free ethos. While that technique is widely used in Australia, it is banned in New Zealand. The farms that supply us are located in New Zealand, so none of our sources use mulesing on their sheep.
Find our complete ingredient list (roll over each to learn what they do) on the New Wash (Original), New Wash (Deep), or New Wash (Rich) pages.
